Once the vaginal cytology reaches 50% cornification, we recommend running progesterone’s every other day. This is done in conjunction with the vaginal smear.  One of the technicians will obtain a small blood sample.  The blood is spun down and the serum is harvested immediately.  This sample is then sent to Antech labs in Tennessee.  Results will usually be faxed to the clinic by noon the following day.  To expedite sample delivery to the lab, bitches need to be sampled by 4 p.m. preferably on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  We will receive results Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
